Nominasi Academy Awards ke-95 telah diumumkan, diikuti oleh film anti-perang Jerman, All Quiet on the Western Front, dan komedi hitam Irlandia, The Banshees of Inisherin, keduanya meraih sembilan nominasi.
Beberapa kategori nominasi Academy Awards 2023 telah diumumkan di Los Angeles, California pada hari Selasa. Untuk pertama kalinya, dua sekuel Top Gun: Maverick dan, Avatar: The Way of Water meraih nominasi untuk film terbaik.
Sedangkan, Michelle Yeoh kelahiran Malaysia, yang membintangi genre-bending, Everything Everywhere all at Once, menjadi wanita Asia kedua yang meraih nominasi Academy Awards untuk aktris terbaik sejak penghargaan pertama kali diadakan pada tahun 1929.
Dalam kategori aktris pendukung terbaik, Angela Bassett menjadi bintang pertama dalam film superhero Marvel yang meraih nominasi akting Oscar untuk, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Sementara, lagu Naatu Naatu, dalam film India berbahasa Telegu, RRR, juga menjadi lagu pertama dari film yang diproduksi sepenuhnya di India meraih nominasi untuk penghargaan bergengsi tersebut. Film ini mengikuti perjuangan dua revolusioner India melawan pemerintahan kolonial Inggris.
